four stars for wildlife and bird benefit, two for looks. I planted two near a large brush pile in my back last spring and it has already grown over 6 feet and is expanding but that's what I want. I can always cut it back if needed. has red stems in winter and the flowers bring lots of beneficial insects in the spring and summer. I'm hoping I can get a brown thrasher or catbird to nest in it this year. I don't leave all the fruit for the birds either!
