Binomial Melanthium virginicum

Description

A tall, showy plant that will really stand out in the back of a flower bed. Use in good, rich soil that receives some extra moisture during dry periods. Bunchflower Lily is slow to mature but worth the wait. In its early years, it consists of basal foliage resembling blades of grass. The greenish-white flowers will attract native beetles and flies and the occasional bee or wasp. It is packed with poison and won't be eaten by pesky deer or rabbits.

Uses: Rain gardens, clay soil, deer resistant, rabbit resistant, pollinators
