Description
Composite Dropseed is known for its drought tolerance. It is a warm season, perennial grass that forms tufts with narrow leaf blades up to 20 inches long. In August, it produces flowering stems that develop long, showy seed heads. This is a good grass to include in prairie restoration projects. Our current seed supply is from Iowa.
Uses: Drought tolerant, birds, wildlife
Bloom time: August - October
Height: 2.5 to 4 feet
Space: 1 to 2 feet
Sun: Full sun to light shade
Moisture: Dry to average
Seeds: Most of the seed is ready to germinate. Sow January through May. The following seeding rates should deposit roughly 30 seeds per square foot:
200 seeds per packet
47,500 seeds per ounce
1 ounce per 1,500 square feet
1.75 pounds per acre
