Gorgeous,
This took a couple of years to establish in my part shade location. But this year it’s blooming and gorgeous! I love it and want to plant more. The leaf shape is elegant and the flowers are beautiful. Love them in bouquets but leaving plenty for wildlife. Started blooming mid-late April. Not sure yet how many weeks of bloom.

Questions and Answers
Q:
I am planning on purchasing several of these from you for planting this spring. I have two questions: 1) How does this plant climb, tendrils or do I have to tie it up, or something else? 2) I have just moved to Western Tennessee, and I don't know when I will be able to plant this? Do you? Also, 3) When do you ship it?
Asked by:
jan williams
- 11/20/2015
A:
1) You'll need to train it. It does not use tendrils. 2) You can plant coral honeysuckle anytime. It generally stays green year round. 3) We can ship it whenever you're ready for it.

Q:
Will Coral Honeysuckle grow as high as 12 ft? Are the flowers scented?

Chuck Stout

A:
Yes, it will grow 12 feet high, though it will need support from a trellis or some other structure. They are not strongly scented.

It is not an invasive species. It typically doesn't grow to the tops of large trees.

Q:
I recently purchased a few potted Coral Honeysuckle plants from you guys. How fast should I expect this to grow in part shade and moist conditions?
Asked by:
Steve
- 3/21/2020
A:
It should grow several feet this year. It will need to be trained, so provide something for it to climb. Twine would work or a trellis that the vine can wrap it self around.

Q:
If this is planted on a chain-link fence, would it spread and be trained to move horizontally? Or, does it need to have a trellis or support that is the full height of it's growth? How tall should it's support be?
Asked by:
Wolly
- 3/29/2020
A:
You should be able to train it to grow horizontally. A four-foot fence would be fine. Stems will keep trying to grow "up" but they can either be forced back down or trimmed.

Q:
A family member has this in their garden, and I notice some of the vines trail along the ground. Could this be used as a groundcover?
Asked by:
Amanda Casey
- 12/10/2020
A:
Possibly, but it is unlikely to spread and be as aggressive as wintercreeper or vinca. We really haven't tried it as a groundcover.

Would I be able to root lonicera from a cutting? I'm moving and you are out of the potted plants. I want to be able to plant this at my new home, too. Thanks.
Asked by:
Pamela Thomas

A:
It can be grown from cuttings. We should have plants back in stock in a couple of weeks.

Q:
Does Coral Honeysuckle grow well from seeds like yellow honeysuckle, which I just read about here on your site. And would you plant the same way at yellow honeysuckle? Thank you and sorry for all the questions this morning. Just keep thinking of them.r48j52
Asked by:
Jennifer Pederson
- 7/4/2020
A:
They both grow fairly well from seed. It is best to remove the pulpy flesh from the seed and rinse it well. Sow as soon as possible after processing and some may germinate by fall, but most will germinate the following spring.
