Goldfinch Magnet
A large, and somewhat imposing addition to my natives. The profusion of yellow flowers attracts countless goldfinches, bees, and skippers. Some wasps and yellow jackets like to hang around due to the water being trapped in the cups so you may not want it too close to patio furniture. It usually flops over after it blooms. The kids love using the square stalks as spears. As a bonus, the finches clear out the aphids on a nearby swamp milkweed.

Q:
Love this plant. But I'm reading that it can get out of control. I have such plants (mint, milkweed, johnson grass, etc.). And I don't want another one. Like those mentioned, cup plant has underground runners (tubers/roots etc.) Can they be dug up easily to keep the plant within reasonable bounds?
