Q:
I am interested in purchasing some elderberry plants for planting in my yard in Boonville. How big are the quart sized potted plants? Are these just small cuttings or have they been growing for awhile?
Asked by:

A:
We grow them from seed. Right now (3/14/19), they are year-old plants and still dormant, but they grow quickly. They are very nice plants at this point, but may not bloom their first year.

Q:
Do you have to plant more than one variety of elderberry to get good berry production?

A:
One plant could produce fruit, but having at least two will help ensure good pollination. Ours are grown from seed, so you will not be getting clones of the same plant.

Q:
Will they produce fruit if planted singly? I see that folks say that you need two varieties if you plant the cultivated plants. Thanks.
