Q:
Does this shrub spread by roots or sucker?
Asked by:

A:
No. It spreads from seed. Its seed pods crack open with enough force to propel the seeds away from the plant. So, it does have potential to spread some, but only if the seeds land in a spot where they can germinate. Also, male and female flowers occur on different plants; if you only have one plant (male or female doesn't matter) it won't be able to form viable seeds.
