Description
A well-behaved, clump-forming sedge with showy seed structures. Many sedges act as host plants for several species of butterfly larvae. A number of birds consume the seeds. Short's sedge is a medium sized sedge that would work well in rain gardens.

Height: 20 to 30 inches
Space: 18 to 24 inches
Sun: Full sun to medium shade
Moisture: Average to wet
Seeds: Collect seeds in early June. Sedge seeds often have a high percentage of dormant seeds, so they should be sown between late November and March.
