Wild Strawberry is an easy-to-grow, colony-forming ground cover for sun or partial shade. It is edible and sweet and has high ecological value for wildlife. Numerous bees and butterflies visit the flowers. Mammals are attracted to the fruit and foliage as well as birds, including the Ring-necked Pheasant, which ranges north of the Missouri River, especially near the Iowa border. It is less susceptible to foliar disease than our cultivated strawberries.Uses: Groundcover, wildlife, edible, beesBloom time: April - MayHeight: 4 to 10 inchesSpace: 12 to 24 inchesSun: Sun to light shadeMoisture: Dry to average
